Adventure Update – July 2016

July 8, 2016 by jag

It’s been a month since I posted last, and I wanted to bring you up to speed on The Adventure. The Mage and The Druid are still my primary toons, though I’ve had to call on some higher-level help to clean up an area or two.

The Mage

The Mage, with Frost spec, has been incredibly fun! She’s currently at level 72, killing orcas in the Borean Tundra.

While I’ve gotten myself into trouble now and again by pulling too many mobs, she pretty much steamrolls through most quests. She still isn’t wearing heirlooms, but you’d never be able to tell. She’s an unstoppable killing machine. Dinging 70 before leaving Outland is helping no doubt as she’s a couple of levels above most mobs.

I have to note that the gear she found in the late 60’s is still way way better, Intellect wise, than anything that’s dropping in Northrend, which I find very odd. Usually the green gear that drops in a new expansion zone is better than anything in the previous expansion’s zone, sometimes even better than blues.

The Stamina on the Northrend gear is much better, but since I’m rarely in need of health, I’m focused on Intellect. I don’t know if I happened to stumble on some absolutely great Intellect gear in Shadowmoon Valley, or if Northrend needed to focus more on Stamina to keep players alive.

The Druid

The Druid, in Feral Spec, is sitting at level 58 in Shattrath. He too has been loads of fun, and he finished up all of the quests in Kalimdor so I received the Loremaster of Kalimdor achievement!

Entering Outland, I’ve thrown heirlooms on him so he can power through the zones I’ve already completed. I need him to get to Terokkar Forest, fast. The plan is for him to complete Netherstorm after Terokkar, and head over to Howling Ford in Northrend.

 What Else

Well, Kalimdor is under our belt with all quests completed, and even as I begin Northrend with the Mage, I must admit that I haven’t completed all of the quests/zones in Outland. I gave Shadowmoon Valley a valiant effort with The Mage, but the zone beat me, bad. (This story requires it’s own post!)

I also have Terokkar Forest and Netherstorn to complete, which as I mentioned above, I expect The Druid to handle.

That’s all for now. I’ll soon post the story of my adventure in Shadowmoon Valley, and how I’m bringing out the big guns for revenge!

Adventure Update

June 5, 2016 by jag

I’m beginning to wonder if being an altoholic is an indicator of someone having attention deficit disorder (A.D.D)? I’ve sure proven my attention for one character will barely last a weekend, sometimes barely an hour. I’m using the “but I need to let the character get rested” as an excuse to jump on another toon.

Yeah, I have issues.

Warcraft Leveling Speed Test

June 3, 2016 by jag

Searching for a Horde toon to level up with this adventure I started up a Blood Elf Rogue. I haven’t been through the BE area in some time so I decided to level without heirlooms. When running heirlooms from the start, I have it stuck in my head that level 10 should come just after a half hour of play. That’s hardcore, kill everything in your path on your way to the next quest and don’t stop to loot, play style. You can imagine my surprise then when at the 30 minute mark I was only sitting at level 5!

PvP and PvE Servers

PVP Servers

I’ve been playing on PvP (player vs player) servers since I began playing WoW back in vanilla, and probably for no other reason than it was the more challenging (man-speak for macho) kind of server to play on. PvE (player vs environment) servers were for wimps who couldn’t handle running into an opponent while questing. Boy has my opinion changed since then.

Expansion Fatigue

May 11, 2016 by jag

Before I begin discussing the toons I’m taking on the adventure let me begin by saying how the adventure came about.

Towards the end of each expansion I get ‘expansion fatigue’. I’ve typically leveled 3 or more toons to max level, and not being a fan of end-game, I kinda get tired running toons through the same quests on my road to max level them. I’ve seen all the new zones and quests. I’ve toyed with the professions. With WoD I played in my garrison as much as I could bear.
