I’m a ‘hit it and smash it till it’s dead‘ kinda guy. Sure, I have a number of ranged DPS toons that I have fun with, but there’s something about getting up close and personal that draws me in.
The Paladin
Ah, The Paladin. Typically one of the most played PvE classes (Retribution) along with Hunters. I create one on almost every server I play on, right after the lower level Warrior I’ve created has his “arse” handed to him in either PvP or because I aggro’d a group of mobs where my confidence was larger than my axe.
The Shaman
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, Expansion Fatigue, the first character to step up for the adventure was my Shaman. Shamans are one of my all time favorite classes, and was actually the very first class I played 10+ years ago.
Today’s Rant: Low Level Huntering
I mentioned yesterday how I’ve finally realized that Arcane Shot is replaced with Aimed Shot at level 10 when you spec Marksmanship on a Hunter. Oh, oh, my. I can’t stand leveling my Hunter now. Level 10 and 11 have been painful at best. If I don’t crit and one-shot a mob, my rotation is Aimed Shot, Aimed Shot (assuming I still have Focus), Steady Shot, Steady Shot. Rinse and repeat.
In the past mobs never even got close to me before they were dead. Now some are mashing on my flesh while I’m still firing at them. I know Hunters were OP in the past, but wow, this nerf has made the class an absolute bore to play 🙁
Decisions, decisions. Try another spec, or give up on this Hunter?
Update: OK, craziness averted. I re-rolled to Beast Mastery and I have my Arcane Shot back, plus Kill Command. Phew. Back to the low leveling of a Hunter I remember 🙂 I’m still not hitting hard as I remember, but maybe that’s because I’m running without heirlooms.
Expansion Fatigue
Before I begin discussing the toons I’m taking on the adventure let me begin by saying how the adventure came about.
Towards the end of each expansion I get ‘expansion fatigue’. I’ve typically leveled 3 or more toons to max level, and not being a fan of end-game, I kinda get tired running toons through the same quests on my road to max level them. I’ve seen all the new zones and quests. I’ve toyed with the professions. With WoD I played in my garrison as much as I could bear.
